I saw a black fantail at the lookout track walk I take each day, i was flying around with a normal coloured fantail, getting quite close, as thy usually do.
I thought it was odd and looking it up HERE I see its not common in the North Island.
Unfortunately I only had phone camera so pictures not clear. And of course, as soon as you want to take a photo they fly off.
It doesn't look as if I actually got them in the photos at all. I will keep an eye out next time and hopefully get a better photo.
